More Colors Than the Eye Can See

The Art of Jeffrey Gibson Grades: K–12

“I consider myself a collage artist no matter what medium I am working in and feel that this way of working best reflects the way that I see the world. Collage allows me to place things side by side that might not otherwise come together. This mirrors the way my life has unfolded and enables me to remain playful and inventive in the process of making an artwork.”

Our Collaboration

This Artist Spotlight is the result of a unique collaboration between the National Museum of the American Indian, Jeffrey Gibson, the Portland Art Museum, SITE Santa Fe, and the Jeffrey Gibson Venice Biennale Teacher Cohort. The cohort of ten educators from Oregon and New Mexico, all with expertise and experience in teaching Indigenous arts and cultures, created the K–12 lesson plans as well as the Sources of Influence
