"In the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, there are four meanings for the word 'roach.' While one does talk about hair, none exactly describes the porcupine hair headdress which, in English, indigenous Americans call a roach...The piece which I made for this exhibit plays on three different meanings in common usage, and pokes a bit of fun at the way lack of familiarity with an indigenous American cultural context, in certain situations, creates nonsense."
