This collection contains 93 photographs shot by amateur photographer Bird Carson (1842-1925) depicting daily life on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation, circa 1890-1920. Bird worked as a housekeeper for the local school and her husband John Franklin Carson worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a teacher at Cherry Creek Day School on the Reservation.

This collection is comprised of 35 gelatin silver prints and 6 acetate negatives taken in 1938 and 1953 by Otis T. Littleton at various archaeological excavations in southern California, including Los Angeles County, Ventura County, Colusa County and Kern County. The majority of the images depict human remains and are restricted.

This collection consists of seventeen photogravures from Joseph K. Dixon's 1913 published book, The Vanishing Race. These images are part of the larger work of Rodman Wanamaker in his expeditions (1908-1913) to document the lives and cultures of Native American peoples.

The collection consists of negatives and photographs made by Halseth from 1920 to 1925 in Arizona and New Mexico.

The photographs in this collection document the excavation of the Nacoochee Mound, located along the banks of the upper Chattahoochee River in the mountains of northeast Georgia, in the summer of 1915. The excavation was a joint project between the Museum of the American Indian, Heye Foundation and the Bureau of American Ethnology.

This collection contains 22 lantern slides in black and white and color, 129 black-and-white glass negatives and 19 albumen prints taken by William L. Calver between 1895-1936. The images primarily depict archaeological excavation sites in Inwood, New York City, and the broader New York City area. Also present are 129 duplicate acetate negatives.

This collection of twenty-three cabinet card photographs was collected by Alice Kennedy Eagan, and depicts Native American and non-native life in the Fort Still, Oklahoma Territory, circa 1894-1896.
