Said to have been captured from a Kickapoo warrior near Chicago, Illinois, in 1854; acquired by Irving Browning (1895-1961, a New York City photographer and filmmaker) at an unknown date; inherited by his widow, Hester V. Browning (1900-1996); purchased by MAI from Mrs. Browning in 1964.
