Carved from an oak tree from the grounds of the NMAI' Museum in Washington, DC, that was removed in 2011 to make room for a commissioned sculpture by artist Rick Bartow; donated to NMAI by the artists in 2013 through Charles Froelick of the Froelick Gallery (Portland, Oregon).
