Acquired by Venezuelan anthropologist Santiago Obispo, probably in the early 1990s; purchased by Christopher Ferrer from Santiago Obispo, who was visiting New York City to gain United Nations support for the protection of indigenous people, in 1993; donated to NMAI by Christopher Ferrer in 2018.
