Possibly produced during the Kivalina Caribou Hoof Project at Kivalina, Alaska, which was supported by the Indian Arts and Crafts Board from 1956 to 1970 to teach jewelry skills and provide and provide employment to local residents; acquired by Indian Arts and Crafts Board representatives from the artist in 1961 or 1962; part of the IACB Headquarters collection (Department of the Interior, Washington, DC) until 2000 when it was transferred to NMAI.
