Formerly owned by Clara Darden (Chitimacha, ca. 1829-1910); purchased from her niece, Delphine Stouff (Chitimacha, 1872-1940), in 1908 by anthropologist Mark Raymond Harrington (1882-1971, MAI staff member) during fieldwork sponsored by George Heye.
