The Art of Storytelling: Concow-Maidu Poet Janice Gould 2
Description
The National Museum of the American Indian celebrates storytelling with Maidu communities from Northern California. In this segment, Concow-Maidu poet and scholar Janice Gould expresses that tradition through her own poetry. She has authored two books of poetry, "Beneath My Heart" and "Earthquake Weather," and her book "Doubters and Dreamers" was a finalist for the Colorado Book Award. In addition to her writing, she is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. This is the second of two readings she gave for the second day of the festival. This reading was webcast and and recorded in the Potomac Atrium of the National Museum of the American Indian on February 28, 2016.
