The choir was formed in 2000 in Tahlequa, Oklahoma to help preserve the Cherokee language. The choir director is Mary Kay Henderson. This performance was webcast and recorded in the Potomac Atrium of the National Museum of the American Indian on April 12, 2019, and it is the first of three performances recorded during the festival.
