Collection history unknown, but said to have been owned by an elderly chief who once lived near Fort Niagara; formerly in the collection of an unnamed gun smith in Lima, Ohio; purchased by Harold J. Hibben (1881-1956, a noted tomahawk collector) from the gun smith's son following his death; inherited by Harold Hibben's nephew, Richard M. Fairbanks (1910-2000, an Indianapolis businessman); donated to MAI by Richard Fairbanks in 1958 in memory of Harold Hibben.
