Bales, 1849-1929, an Alaskan trader who acquired artifacts for Ye Olde Curiosity Shop (Seattle, Washington); purchased by MAI in 1916 from Ye Olde Curiosity Shop, which was owned and operated by James E. Standley (1854-1940), using funds donated by MAI trustee James B. Ford (1844-1928).
