Found by local residents at an unknown date; purchased from them by Jose Maria Nuila (of San Pedro Sula, Honduras), who sold another vessel found with it to the University Museum at the University of Pennsylvania; formerly in the collection of the Governor of the Honduran Province of Cortes; purchased by Marshall H. Saville (1867-1935, MAI staff member) from the Governor in 1915.
