Created during a painting and design workshop held in Cherokee, North Carolina, in May 1966; donated to the Indian Arts and Crafts Board by Stephen M. Richmond (1920-2004, IACB field representative to the Cherokee) in 1967; part of the IACB Headquarters collection (Department of the Interior, Washington, DC) until 2000 when it was transferred to NMAI.
