Collection History
Produced during the Shungnak Jade Project at Shungnak, Alaska, which was supported by the Indian Arts and Crafts Board in the 1950s and 1960s to teach lapidary skills and provide employment to local residents and where the artist served as an instructor; acquired before 1962 by Indian Arts and Crafts Board representatives from the Shungnak Jade Project; part of the IACB Headquarters collection (Department of the Interior, Washington, DC) until 2000 when it was transferred to NMAI.
