Collection history unknown, but probably from the collection of Indian art collector David T. Vernon (1900-1973), part of which was acquired by MAI in 1968 through an exchange with the Jackson Hole Preserve, Inc. (a foundation backed by the Rockefeller family), which purchased Vernon's entire collection in 1965; found in MAI collections without information and catalogued in 1992.
