Possibly collected by Francis Louis Hoover (1913-2004, an educator who researched and collected Guna molas); part of an exhibit of Hoover's collection at the Center for Inter-American Relations Art Gallery (New York City) in 1968; acquired from the Center for Inter-American Relations Art Gallery by Helen Pep Grodka (1898-1982, an artist and Native American art enthusiast) in 1969; donated to MAI in 1982 by Helen Pep Grodka's daughter and son-in-law, Sonia Grodka Blumenthal and Harry W. Blumenthal (1924-2013).
