Formerly owned by Wichita Blaine (To-too-ra-we-chat [Herding Enemy Horses], Skidi Pawnee, ca. 1860-1928); inherited by his widow Effie Blaine (Skidi Pawnee, 1869-1948); collected from her at an unknown date by Indian art collector David T. Vernon (1900-1973); acquired by MAI in 1968 through an exchange with the Jackson Hole Preserve, Inc. (a foundation backed by the Rockefeller family), which purchased Vernon's entire collection in 1965.
