Said to have been acquired from a Navajo silversmith by Kit Carson (Christopher Houston Carson, 1809-1868) and given to his wife Josefa Jaramillo Carson (1829-1868); formerly in the collection of Katherine Harvey (1892-1962, granddaughter of Fred Harvey of the Fred Harvey Company); bequeathed to MAI by Katherine Harvey.
