Collection history unknown; formerly in the collection of Captain Theodore Canot (Theophile Conneau, 1804-1860), an Italian-French ship captain, slaver, and sometime pirate; donated to the Maryland Historical Society in Baltimore, Maryland, by Captain Canot in 1854 when he briefly lived there; purchased by MAI from the Maryland Historical Society in 1946.
