Purchased from a priest in Paraguay in 1903 by Theodore Greene Sullivan (1848-1925, an oil company executive who traveled in Latin America and collected Latin American ceramics); inherited by his daughter Ethel VanZandt Sullivan Darrot (Mrs. Paul Gaston Darrot, 1881-1927); donated to MAI by Mrs. Darrot in 1927.
