Collection History
Said to have been the property of the Seneca leader Red Jacket (ca. 1750-1830); given to or inherited by "Chief Johnson," probably Red Jacket's nephew Chief James Johnson (Sos'he:owâ, Tonawanda Seneca, ca. 1774-ca. 1850); given to Six Nations Cayuga Chief William Wedge (1826-ca. 1904) by Chief Johnson or a descendant; given by William Wedge to his grandson, who gave it to William Bomberry (Allegany Seneca, 1869-ca. 1928); purchased from William Bomberry by Alanson B. Skinner (1886-1925, MAI staff member) in 1925.
