Formerly in the collection of Colonel James F. Randlett (1832-1915, US Army commander and Indian agent at Fort Duchesne, Utah, until 1896 and Indian agent for the Kiowa, circa 1900) and possibly collected by him in 1903 when he was assigned to investigate the condition and needs of Chiricahua Apache prisoners of war held at Fort Sill, Oklahoma; purchased by MAI from an unknown source in 1923.
