Scope and Contents: Outdoor portait of a Diné (Navajo) man, Jose or Whalus, posed against a wall at Pueblo Bonito in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico. He is wearing only a short white cloth around his waist with fabric belt, hide moccasins, and knit fabric leggings. Simarly posed as Pablo, or Bowerlo in L01567.

Summary

This collection includes glass lantern slides depicting Diné (Navajo) scenes and items from Arizona and New Mexico, circa 1900. The lantern slides were made by George Hubbard Pepper and include photographs originally made by Pepper and Sumner Matteson, among other photographers.
