Scope and Contents
A colored slide which is a photographic still from the film "Hopi." Butterfly girl and her family sit on the steps in front of an adobe doorway on the Hopi Reservation, Arizona. Butterfly Girl stands in the doorway wearing a butterfly coif. The man sitting on the right may be Sun-on-Rising, portrayed by Quoyavema (Riley Sunrise). The blankets and garments were borrowed from several museum collections for the filming. See also P22266, Plate XXI in "Rhythm for Rain."
Series Restrictions
At least one photograph has been restricted for cultural sensitivity. Additional consultation with the Hopi community is needed.
