This subseries contains 35 photographs (7 lantern slides, 18 negatives, 10 photographic prints) that were shot by Dr. Leuman Waugh at the Bering Straits in Siberia, Russia circa 1929-1938. Among the sites in the Bering Straits that Waugh visited and photographed were Cape Billings, Saint Lawrence Bay, North Cape, and East Cape. The photographs depict people from the Yuit (Siberian Yup'ik) and Chukchee Indigenous communities.
Series Restrictions
Access to some photographs are restricted. Some dental records may be restricted from access, reproduction, or publication under personal health information privacy provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996.
