Scope and Contents
Outdoor view of the two left upright carvings of a Kwakwaka'wakw (Kwakiutl) ceremonial carving. Origially erected at Dsawadi, Knights Inlet, British Columbia, about 1884, it is pictured here at Hatley Park (James Dunsmuir estate) on Vancouver Island. The photograph was taken when the carving was collected by Heye and Newcombe for the MAI (catalog number 20/0303) in1938, though it was later sold to the Canadian Museum of History.
