Scope and Contents
These photographic prints were made by Frank Speck in 1935 among members of the Innu community of Pakuashipu along the Saint Augusin River, though originally cataloged as "Naskapi." The photographs are listed as having been made in Labrador, Canada, but it is more likely that they were made along a part of the Saint Augustin River in Québec, Canada. Images include views of the Hudson's Bay Company trading post, and portraits of Innu community members at a wedding ceremony. These include members of the Mark, Lalo, Ashini, Mestenapeo and Peters families, at their summer camp along the river.
