This collection includes 90 color slides made by Fred H. Werner in 1978 in Guatemala and Mexico.
Biographical / Historical
Fred Henry Warner (1936-) was born in New York City. As a child he developed a love of photography, which would continue into adulthood. He received a bachelor's degree in English from Trinity College before studying cultural anthropology at Columbia University, though he did not complete the degree. Warner traveled extensively during the 1970s and 80s to visit different communities and cultural sites. He had a great interest in native languages, particularly Mayan languages. He moved to the Washington, D.C. area in the 1990s and continued anthropology research.
