- This collection includes six photographs taken by Robert M. Gerstmann in La Paz, Bolivia.
- Biographical / Historical
- Robert M. Gerstmann (1896-1960) was a German photographer. He moved to Chile around 1924 and worked for Mauricio Hochschild, a tin mine owner, taking photographs of the operation. He traveled throughout South America taking pictures of people and scenery, particularly Bolivia, Chile, and Peru. Gerstmann published multiple books of his photographs in the 1950's and had his work published in National Geographic.
