Summary
This collection contains 36 photographs depicting Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico in 1900. The images were collected and possibly shot by citrus businessman Joshua Coffin Chase (1858-1948).
Biographical / Historical
Joshua Coffin Chase was a businessman who worked in the Florida and California citrus industry. He and his brother Sydney Octavius Chase (1860-1941) ran the Chase and Company. The brothers became interested in expanded railroad lines in order to more easily ship produce across the country and it may be in this capacity that Joshua visited New Mexico in 1900.
