Biographical / Historical
Edward Joseph Partridge (1856-1891) and William Henry Partridge (1860-1939) were born in West Virginia. They followed their father's, Asa C. Partridge, footsteps to become photographers. In 1884, the pair moved to Portland to establish their own studio and exhibited their work. They were known for producing high quality photographs of Oregon landscapes and cabinet cards. In 1887, William got married and moved back to Boston to work with his father and Edward eventually moved to San Francisco to work with another brother, Sam, at his photography supply business. Edward contracted brights disease and passed in 1891. William continued to work as a photographer until 1914 when he started working in real estate. He passed in 1939.
