The Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) is an exciting place to work. Established by an Act of Congress in 1989, NMAI comprises three facilities, each designed following consultations between museum staff and Native peoples. In 2004, NMAI opened its museum on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Under the leadership of director Kevin Gover (Pawnee), the NMAI is a gathering place of profound meaning and affirmation for the indigenous people of our land.
