  Mother Earth Event [00:07:11]
On July 7, 2007, the National Museum of the American Indian hosted an all-day Indian Summer Showcase event, "Mother Earth," in the spirit of the Live Earth message. Featuring musical and cultural talent as well as speakers from the scientific and American Indian cultural communities, the event aimed to help elevate understanding about global climate change and the importance of preserving the health of Mother Earth.

  Santee Smith—Here On Earth [00:04:02]
Santee Smith, a member of the Mohawk Nation, Turtle Clan, from Six Nations of the Grand River Territory, Ontario, presented her work Here On Earth at the National Museum of the American Indian, Washington, D.C., in January 2007. This contemporary dance piece explores spiritual connection to the land—Earth as living organism, Earth as mother, Earth as sacred—drawing upon the Iroquoian creation story and the existence of the Sky World and the Water World/Turtle Island.

In celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month and National Poetry Month, Joy Harjo and the Arrow Dynamics Band performed at the National Museum of the American Indian's Rasmuson Theater on April 21, 2007.
